PAC Contribution Request (Please Read)

Updated On: May 18, 2009 (11:44:00)

 Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

As you are all aware, we have just completed an election cycle. You the members of IAFF Local 3878 were in the trenches and involved in the process and I thank all of you for your help and support. But all this success came at a cost and our PAC Funds were severely depleted.

Here is a brief list of accomplishments that affect us all.

Congressman Harry Mitchell was reelected to congress, State senator Carolyn Allen and state house representatives Reagan and Kavanaugh were reelected. All are our friends who keep fire fighters interest on the top of their agendas.

In Scottsdale, council woman Browowsky and Klapp were elected and they will both be good leaders and supporters of the fire service. As most of you know, the political action committee fund (PAC) is a voluntary contribution made by members to help fund campaigns for or against a candidate or issue. The political process effects all of us whether it’s electing a fire board or council friendly to the Maricopa Chapter or Scottsdale city council, effecting contracts, funding or credit for past service time. That's why we need your help.

We defeated the majority rules referendum that would have severely hurt the fire service on a statewide level. Good job! This was a huge victory for us. These PAC funds stay in state and work for you.

Brothers and Sisters of the Scottsdale Chapter, PAC contributions have been very low in the past. The Scottsdale PAC has only been in existence for 1 year and it was greatly deplete in the last election cycle. I realize we all have busy lives and only a handful can do the walks and pound the signs, but by making this contribution you will be lending a much needed helping hand.

Maricopa Chapter members enjoy the ability to contribute through payroll deduction. While successful in the past, it has dropped off significantly due to the departure of members to other agency. With this contribution we can fund the PAC and work towards a revitalized payroll deduction system.

Keeping in mind that times are tough financially for all of us, I am asking each of you for a 25.00 contribution to your respective PAC for 2009. Direct contributions is the only way to fund a PAC, funds can not come from the general fund or dues.

For members of Queen Creek, Rio Verde and Maricopa Chapters please make your check out to: United Maricopa County Fire Fighters. For members of Scottsdale Chapter please make your check out to: Scottsdale Fire Fighters.

Send to:

United Maricopa County Fire Fighters Association

3370 N Hayden Rd #123-521

Scottsdale, AZ 85251

Thank you in advance for your contributions! It will benefit us all.

Fraternally,
Al DiBenedetto
